The Grand River watershed is located in the heart of southern Ontario just one hour west of Toronto. It is 290 km long and was designated a Canadian Heritage River in 1994. It contains the largest and last remaining Carolinian Forest Zones in Canada. Paddling along it gives you a feeling of being miles away in the wilderness and yet you are so close to home. The Grand River is becoming a paddle destination for people from all over the world. It has been featured on TV on the Outdoor Life Network and Discovery Channel. Major newspapers such as the Globe and Mail have written articles on it as a destination for fall colours along with the Agawa Canyon and Haliburton Highlands. Not to mention articles in many outdoor fishing and paddling magazines. We invite you and your family and friends to come and experience the beautiful and historic Grand River. Truly a Grand Eco adventure.

The Grand River between Cambridge and Brantford travels through the largest and one of the last remaining Carolinian Forest Zones in Canada. The river drops about 170’ in elevation in this stretch, which creates some exciting quick sections. This area abounds with wildlife both on, in, around and above the water. In the air you will see Ospreys, Red-tailed Hawks and maybe even a Bald Eagle. Kingfishers hover above as you paddle by.

The banks abound with Blue Herons, Mink, Foxes, White-tailed Deer and even Beaver. With a 116 different species of fish, the Grand is a fisherman’s paradise.
